About the team

The Financial Partnerships team at Airwallex is dedicated to building and managing strategic relationships with key financial institutions and partners worldwide. We work to expand Airwallex’s network, enhance our product offerings, and drive mutual growth. By fostering strong collaborations, we ensure our customers have access to the best financial solutions and services. What you’ll do

The Director of Financial Partnerships, Card Schemes APAC will play a critical role in developing and delivering Airwallex’s financial infrastructure. This role involves executing end-to-end strategy, implementation, and executive relationship management across all card scheme relationships in APAC, including with global partners. Leading a group of geographically diverse and seasoned regional experts, your goal is to ensure our financial services partner network with card schemes is world-class. This role will directly report to the VP of Financial Partnerships.

This role is based in Singapore.

Responsibilities:

  • Intimately understand the Airwallex financial operating system products and services to ensure that the right partners are selected to support the delivery of our roadmap

  • Manage the entire lifecycle of partnerships from strategy to signing through implementation

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and leadership across the company, including Legal, Compliance, Product, Engineering, Strategy, Finance and Operations

  • Effectively impact Airwallex customers by working with partners and internal product teams to deliver new products and payment corridors

  • Lead a team in APAC and manage partner relationships. This team is expected to work with our partners to develop industry-leading solutions, solving problems for our customers that the industry has yet to solve

  • Harness a strong executive network for building thought leadership in payments

  • Represent Airwallex as an executive spokesperson at events and in the media.

Who you are

We’re looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Experience working in Fintech/Payments/Corporate Banking supplemented with a background in tier-1 Consulting/Investment Banking. You should have a strong bias towards business and product development

  • Executive relationships with card schemes providers in Asia Pacific would be a plus

  • You are an expert in crafting and executing on thoughtful partnership and product strategies with card networks at scale

  • You are fascinated with the global financial ecosystem, embedded finance adoption, and globalization of enterprises, and you are generally an expert in payments

  • You are an exceptional communicator and can connect with people at all levels, internally and with external stakeholders

  • You exhibit a strong product instinct and can identify opportunities to leverage partners’ and Airwallex’s existing and future products

  • You have strong negotiation skills and can hustle to make multiple complex deals work parallel across regions

  • Have experience effectively managing a lean yet high-performing team across different time zones

These expected base pay ranges are based on information at the time this post was generated and represent the company’s good faith minimum and maximum ranges for this role at the time of posting.

The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills and other qualifications, geographic location as noted, internal equity, and other external market factors.

Certain roles may be eligible for other compensation including, but not limited to, annual bonuses, commissions, RSUs, or other forms of compensation in addition to the established salary range.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and work location. US-based employees are eligible to participate in medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability, basic life insurance, and well-being benefits. US-based employees also receive 20 paid days of vacation and 12 paid days of company holidays in a calendar year.
