About the team
Airwallex’s Risk Platform team is responsible for managing the financial risk of all Airwallex clients, including money laundering, fraud, credit loss, brand risk, etc. The team oversees different types of transactions across the entire Airwallex, from online payments to cross-border transfers to issuing transactions. The team will use AI, big data, rule engine to build automated client monitoring pipelines, and provide an easy-to-use UI for Ops to perform manual reviews efficiently.

What you’ll do
As an Engineering Lead in the Client Risk team, you will be responsible for leading a group of talented engineers to develop the critical client monitoring systems to empower the hypergrowth of Airwallex’s all product lines.
The Client Risk team manages client risks for Payment, GTPN, and Issuing. You will partner with other key roles in the cross-functional team to develop the strategy and roadmap, prioritize work based on impact and drive the implementation with best-in-class quality and performance SLA.
In Airwallex we deliver business outcomes not just product features, you will also be given the opportunity to work with other Airwallex teams such as operations, support, finance and risk for operational excellence and delightful user experience.
We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Lead who is excited to expand the impact beyond software and can thrive in a startup environment with ambiguity and rapid changes.
This role is based in “Singapore”.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead a team of high performing engineers and assist in new hiring. Motivate and mentor team members to grow in their roles.
2. Work closely with product managers and key stakeholders to define product roadmap, prioritize projects and ship incrementally to production.
3. Build high available low latency distributed systems with public cloud infrastructure.
4. Build reliable data pipelines and data quality monitoring programs.
5. Support the engineering team on architecture evolution, quality improvement and engineering risk mitigation.
6. Manage processes to help the team do its best work.
7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams for operational excellence and delightful user experience.
Who you are
We’re looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.
Minimum qualifications:
1. B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
2. Managed teams that have shipped and operated large scale, highly available distributed systems.
3. Experience with backend technologies is essential. While we do not mind what language you have most recently been using, we are using Java, Python or Kotlin, Spring / Spring Boot.
4. Strong cloud experience GCP (preferred) or AWS with docker and Kubernetes.
5. A clear focus on measurable customer outcomes.
6. Strong communication and collaboration skills, work well in a cross-functional environment.
Preferred qualifications:
1. Experience with risk control.
2. Experience with big data technologies, such as Spark, BigQuery, Airflow, ElasticSearch.
