About the team

A key part of Airwallex’s suite of Business Account software, the Cards team are revolutionizing the way businesses issue credit cards and manage expenses for their employees. This team solves complex challenges around the growing demands of data and feature complexity in credit cards and expenses, and they work at the exciting intersection of our backend infrastructure and customer facing applications, working on distributed systems that manage millions of transactions. 

What you’ll do

While you are a technically strong engineer who is still passionate about writing code, your leadership skills, product thinking and business acumen are what really sets you apart. You will be accountable for the overall quality and delivery of multiple engineering streamlines within the Budget and Expense Management team. 

This role is based in San Francisco.

Responsibilities:

  • You will be the one clearing road blockers, providing context and guidance to the teams, and will know when to escalate.

  • This role will work with key stakeholders across the globe, and will provide technical leadership to Engineers in the US to define the tech vision of the business domain.

Who you are

We’re looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

Minimum qualifications:

  • 10+ years working in modern engineering practices focused on continuous integration and quality engineering.

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.

  • Strong computer science fundamentals. While we do not mind what language you have most recently been using we are using Java or Kotlin, Spring / Spring Boot.

  • Exposure working on high volume distributed systems

  • Hands on experience with event driven architectures

  • Experience with operational tooling such as New Relic, StatsD, Elk, Datadog, Prometheus
    Flexibility to work across global timezones required

Preferred qualifications:

  • GCP experience preferred, but AWS (EC2, RDS, ELB, CloudFront etc) with docker and Kubernetes is great too.

  • Previous experience in FinTech a plus.

These expected base pay ranges are based on information at the time this post was generated and represent the company’s good faith minimum and maximum ranges for this role at the time of posting.

The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills and other qualifications, geographic location as noted, internal equity, and other external market factors.

Certain roles may be eligible for other compensation including, but not limited to, annual bonuses, commissions, RSUs, or other forms of compensation in addition to the established salary range.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and work location. US-based employees are eligible to participate in medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability, basic life insurance, and well-being benefits. US-based employees also receive 20 paid days of vacation and 12 paid days of company holidays in a calendar year.
