About the team

The Legal, Risk & Compliance (LRC) team at Airwallex is a collaborative group of legal minds and risk management experts. We’re passionate about safeguarding Airwallex’s operations, fostering a culture of compliance and ethical conduct, and ensuring we navigate the global financial landscape with integrity. We provide expert guidance and support to all areas of the business, proactively identifying, mitigating, and managing legal and financial risks.

What You’ll Do

As Senior Manager, Model Governance and Data Standards, you will play a critical role in establishing and maintaining a robust and formal governance framework and independent testing mechanism to ensure model and data standards are applied across Airwallex. You will ensure the framework is enforced with regular monitoring to confirm all models produce expected outcomes in line with business needs. You will also ensure that our models and data are used responsibly, ethically, and in compliance with regulatory requirements. 

This role is based in our Singapore or Hong Kong office.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain risk model register

  • Create and maintain a model definition and governance policy (e.g. testing, roll out, monitoring) 

  • Establish model risk appetite and tolerance levels.

  • Ensure performance validation of models meets policy standards and remediate any findings

  • Monitor model performance and identify potential risks.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

  • Create and enforce data quality standards to ensure we are meeting privacy policy and infosec standards in coordination with data privacy officer and infosec teams

  • Develop data governance policies and procedures.

  • Communicate model risk and data governance findings to senior management.

  • Provide training and guidance on model governance and data standards.

Who you are

We’re looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, finance, economics).

  • 8+ years of experience in model governance, model risk management, or data governance, preferably in the financial services industry.

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing model governance frameworks and data standards.

  • Strong understanding of model development, validation, and monitoring techniques.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to model risk management

  • Strong understanding of data management principles and best practices.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders across different departments.  

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in or with FinTech/Payment is significant plus

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., FRM, PRM) are a plus.
