About the team

The SME & Growth Business team at Airwallex is a passionate group of collaborators and business champions dedicated to empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to thrive in the global economy. We combine deep financial expertise with a growth mindset, working closely with our clients to understand their unique needs and develop tailored solutions that streamline cross-border payments and unlock new revenue streams. This is an exciting opportunity to join Airwallex’s founding New Zealand team and make an impact in a rapidly growing market. As an early member of our NZ team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our success and be part of a truly unique growth journey.

What you’ll do

This role will be focused on generating and qualifying leads that will build Airwallex’s NZ sales pipeline. As a Sales Development Representative (SDR), you are excited about engaging with prospects to find out about their needs, adept at strategically identifying high-value opportunities, and capable of managing early sales funnel activities.

This role is based in Auckland. 

Responsibilities

  • You are used to delivering value in complex situations and are energised by learning about new and existing products

  • You enjoy participating in the demand generation and sales process, the articulation of Airwallex’s value proposition, and the creation of key tools and assets

  • Initiate contact with potential customers through diverse outreach strategies including email or cold calling and follow up on designated touch points in a customer journey

  • Move quality leads through the funnel while connecting them to a salesperson and arranging meetings

  • Develop relationships with prospects to uncover needs through effective questioning to qualify interest and viability to prepare hand-off to sales

  • Update activity and contact information within the CRM system and support reporting efforts

  • Collaborate and provide feedback and insights to cross-functional teams, including Marketing to help improve targeting and messaging

  • Work closely with your designated Account Executive on the handover & first call

Who you are

We’re looking for people who meet the minimum requirements for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

Minimum qualifications

  • Track record of top performance or prior success in an SDR or BDR-related role

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interest in technology and/or financial services

  • Self starter who is able to operate in a hyper-growth environment

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • A master prioritiser – you leverage sound judgment to quickly assess all the tasks at hand and expertly prioritise them

  • Obsessively curious – you know when to dig a little deeper to get to the bottom of a problem and solve it; in doing so, you ask the right questions necessary to arrive at a sound, risk-based decision
