About the team

The Legal, Risk & Compliance (LRC) team at Airwallex is a collaborative group of legal minds and risk management experts. We’re passionate about safeguarding Airwallex’s operations, fostering a culture of compliance and ethical conduct, and ensuring we navigate the global financial landscape with integrity. We provide expert guidance and support to all areas of the business, proactively identifying, mitigating, and managing legal and financial risks.

What you’ll do

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Contracts Manager to optimize the Commercial Legal team’s processes for the entire contracts lifecycle from creation to execution and management. This role’s purpose is to build and maintain a first-class, global go-to-market commercial contracting experience for both internal customers and the Commercial Legal team by leveraging existing tools, especially the Ironclad contract management system, and integrating cutting-edge AI technologies to improve operational efficiency and enhance customer experience.

This role is based in San Francisco.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for Commercial Legal contract intake, assisting internal stakeholders in submitting requests and coordinating timely, effective responses.

  • Independently and collaboratively troubleshoot challenges to facilitate smooth contract handling and stakeholder support.

  • Drive the strategy and implementation of scalable, global commercial contracts administration in partnership with Commercial Legal leadership

  • Configure and manage tools such as Ironclad to support complex global contract templates, signature workflows, intake forms, and reporting. Liaise with external vendors as needed.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams across legal, sales, risk, compliance, finance, and external counsel to fulfill legal service needs across time zones.

  • Oversee the full contract lifecycle, including request intake, tracking through signature, managing critical touch points like renewal and termination periods, and ensuring stakeholder visibility through clear reporting and metrics.

  • Maintain and update online agreements, templates, and other standard documentation to reflect evolving business needs.

  • Build and optimize a contracts management “flywheel” using AI and automation to streamline processes and improve efficiency.

  • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements using established templates, playbooks, and guidelines.

  • Design and deliver training and resources to empower the Sales team in navigating and selling Airwallex products.

  • Contribute to a collaborative, solutions-oriented team culture focused on helpfulness and legal excellence.

  • Identify and lead process improvement opportunities in coordination with the Legal, Risk, and Compliance Office to drive efficiency and implement best practices.

  • Support other Commercial Legal initiatives and projects as assigned.

Who you are

We’re looking for people who meet the minimum requirements for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • 4+ years of experience as a contracts manager, paralegal, or similar legal department experience.

  • Experience with a wide array of legal documents and contractual agreements, including NDAs, services agreements, and other commercial contracts.

  • Extensive previous experience with contract lifecycle management tools (especially Ironclad).

  • Thorough understanding of contracts lifecycle management.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand complex business problems and propose effective technical solutions.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively articulate contracting concepts to both legal and non-legal stakeholders.

  • Passionate about AI and technology with a keen interest in staying updated on the latest trends and advancements in the field.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Strong background working with SaaS or other technology companies.

  • Fluency with spreadsheets and ability to use data to drive decisions.

  • Prior experience with Confluence/Jira.

Base $120K – $170K • Offers Equity • Offers Bonus

Airwallex promotes fair compensation practices in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local law.

These expected base pay ranges are based on information at the time this post was generated and represent the company’s good faith minimum and maximum ranges for this role at the time of posting.

The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills and other qualifications, geographic location as noted, internal equity, and other external market factors.

Certain roles may be eligible for other compensation including, but not limited to, annual bonuses, commissions, RSUs, or other forms of compensation in addition to the established salary range.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and work location. US-based employees are eligible to participate in medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability, basic life insurance, and well-being benefits. US-based employees also receive 20 paid days of vacation and 12 paid days of company holidays in a calendar year.
