What you’ll be doing:

As the Senior Financial Partnerships Manager, you will be responsible for building, evaluating and managing Airwallex’s key financial partnerships with the goal to deepen Airwallex’s product capabilities, as well as enable Airwallex to launch in new markets.

You will be a key driver of the Financial Partnerships team in scoping, establishing, negotiating, implementing, and operationalizing complex partnership engagements.

This role will be the bridge between financial partners and internal stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives and outcomes for the company.

  • Lead, develop, and implement a banking partnerships strategy for the Americas (US and Canada in particular) that supports our vision for Airwallex’s payments network

  • Manage our most strategic partnership opportunities, both existing and new, and act as the main point of contact between Airwallex and our partners

  • Conduct market research to understand the competitive landscape to ensure that Airwallex maintains its position as a payment leader

  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to integrate with local banking partners, acquirers, and payment methods as Airwallex expands to new geographies

  • Coordinate due diligence processes with prospective partners and project manage onboarding with new partners

  • Develop yourself as an industry thought leader

The ideal candidate:

A partnerships expert with experience in the payments industry, preferably having managed partnerships with major banks and card schemes. You have experience working in both big organizations as well as fast-growing startups, and hence have the knowledge and experience in putting in place processes and structure, while remaining flexible and creative in ensuring they are effective and relevant for the business. You are resourceful, action-oriented, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • You’re an exceptional communicator – you’re able to connect with people at all levels, both internally and externally, and communicate project expectations effectively

  • You thrive under pressure – and work well with constant change and the ambiguity of a startup environment

  • You have strong negotiation skills – to navigate complex commercial discussions to ensure the best outcome for Airwallex

  • You’re a team player – work cohesively with colleagues from across the organization and be able to inspire a shared vision

Skills and experience required:

  • At least 7 years of experience in a partnerships or product role at a fintech, payments company, bank, or major card scheme

  • Experience in commercial negotiation and partnership sourcing and management 

  • Excellent written, verbal, and in-person communication skills. Ability to build and maintain relationships

  • A solid understanding of compliance and onboarding with global and regional banks.

  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders including Product, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Commercial teams

  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities, exceptional attention to detail 

  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and thrives under pressure

Airwallex promotes fair compensation practices in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local law.

These expected base pay ranges are based on information at the time this post was generated and represent the company’s good faith minimum and maximum ranges for this role at the time of posting.

The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills and other qualifications, geographic location as noted, internal equity, and other external market factors.

Certain roles may be eligible for other compensation including, but not limited to, annual bonuses, commissions, RSUs, or other forms of compensation in addition to the established salary range.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and work location. US-based employees are eligible to participate in medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability, basic life insurance, and well-being benefits. US-based employees also receive 20 paid days of vacation and 12 paid days of company holidays in a calendar year.
