The Engineering team at Airwallex is a diverse group of innovators, builders, and problem solvers, driven by a mission to empower businesses to operate anywhere, anytime. As the engineering organization matures, the infrastructure teams are the key to Airwallex’s ability to build a next-generation geo-distributed, disaster-resilient infrastructure which spans multiple continents.
What you’ll do
What you do here matters and will have a high impact within Airwallex. The Airwallex Cloud Infra team is a group of highly skilled, innovative, and collaborative professionals dedicated to creating and maintaining a cutting-edge, secure, and scalable infrastructure that supports our cross-border payment solutions.
The team brings together experts in Kubernetes, service mesh, cloud platforms, and core services, all working seamlessly to ensure the highest levels of performance, reliability, and security. The Cloud Infrastructure team is pivotal to Airwallex’s mission to empower businesses worldwide by providing a robust and efficient financial technology platform.
This role is based in Singapore.
Responsibilities:

Build the infrastructure platform: Craft new cloud infrastructures services, tools and platforms based upon Kubernetes, Terraform and similar technologies in a fully automated manner (programmatic approach), ensuring rapid, secure, and efficient provisioning and management of cloud infrastructure resources.

Partner with stakeholders across all product and engineering: Collaborate closely with fellow team members and stakeholders across the organization to identify areas for improvement, propose innovative solutions, and contribute to the continuous evolution of our infrastructure and technology stack.

Uplift the quality bar of the team and the wider engineering org: Monitor and maintain the overall health, performance, and security of our infrastructure, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues and vulnerabilities before they impact our customers.

You build it, you run it culture: Working together to provide prompt and efficient resolution of issues or incidents that may arise, maintaining the highest levels of availability, performance, and customer satisfaction on our infrastructure.

Build and enhance the Airwallex Engineering community: Share your knowledge and expertise with other team members, providing mentorship, guidance to help them develop their skills and further enhance the capabilities of the Cloud Infra team.

Learn and grow together: Stay current with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in Al, Kubernetes, OAM (Open Application Model), Cloud Platforms, and related areas, proactively integrating new ideas and tools to ensure Airwallex remains at the forefront of financial technology.
Who you are
We’re looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.
Minimum qualifications:

At least 8 years of experience in high-performance, distributed systems.

Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or related fields.
-
Strong expertise in working on building Infrastructure as Code (laC).
-
In-depth knowledge and experience with public cloud (GCP, AWS, or Azure), Kubernetes, K8S Operator development, and containerization technologies.

Expertise in Java, Golang, Python or other programming languages.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve potential issues and vulnerabilities in a proactive manner.

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and share knowledge and expertise with others.
Preferred qualifications:

Broad experience with modern CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab, Jenkins, Argo etc).

A fervent enthusiasm for infrastructure-as-code (we love Terraform).

Observability tooling such as Splunk, NewRelic, Prometheus, Grafana.

Excellent understanding of Operating System, platform and network security practices, patterns and frameworks.

Network topology and infrastructure architectures on Linux based platforms.
