About the team

Airwallex expanded to EMEA in 2021 and has since grown to ~150 people across offices in London, Amsterdam, Paris, Tel Aviv, Vilnius and the UAE. We are a truly cross-functional team, with representation from all disciplines, including Product and Engineering. We recently hit $100b in annual transaction volume and an annual run rate revenue of approaching $500m, demonstrating our strong product market fit, customer expansion, and the durability of our business model.

You will be part of our Global Leadership Team, a collaborative group of analysts, strategists and operational experts who are passionate about translating vision into action. 

What you’ll do

You’ll be the driving force behind our revenue engine, leading the team to optimize processes, leverage data-driven insights, and implement strategies that fuel sustainable growth. You will take full ownership of our GTM strategy, from development and refinement to flawless execution across all channels. This is a high-impact, multi-faceted role that requires strategic vision, operational hands-on excellence requiring the successful candidate to be able to pivot between Strategy, Sales, Operations and Product. 

This role is based in the UK.

Responsibilities:

Build and lead the EMEA organization 

  • Overall leadership of the Airwallex EMEA team, building a high-performing team through talent attraction, retention and development 

  • Cultivate an environment that encourages others to thrive and perform meaningful work by overseeing recruitment (incl. Leadership team), hiring and training of the EMEA team 

  • Drive team morale, rally others to strive towards common objectives (i.e., organizational OKRs), and form a coherent team culture in EMEA 

Own and lead overall EMEA GTM strategy in line with organizational objectives 

  • Formulate and execute overall EMEA GTM strategy, including product offering, go-to-market, operational setup, local partnerships, regulatory & licensing, etc. 

  • Closely liaise with global stakeholders in implementing country strategies; track progress and team performances to periodically report to HQ

  • Set up necessary systems and processes to enable the team to succeed 

Excellent execution of strategy 

  • Responsible for end-to-end EMEA P&L management (e.g., revenue, gross profit, operational expenses, etc.), driving growth and profitability 

  • Lead and conduct day-to-day business operations, actively manage all key relationships in EMEA, including employees, strategic partners, customers, investors, suppliers 

  • Proactively manage and mitigate business and operational risks 

  • Perform ad hoc key tasks (e.g., covering for specific key roles, etc.) from time to time to fulfill business objectives 

Who you are

We’re looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory

Minimum qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the payments, fintech, financial services, or tech industry, or in professional services with payments experience; functional experience in management, strategy, or business development 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a tertiary institution is preferred, and demonstrated early success in their careers 

  • Experience leading and scaling a high-growth start-up, preferably in a leadership position with direct reports and responsibility over P&L, proven experience in managing complex projects or teams 

  • Experience in all facets of Enterprise, SME/SMB, GTM and Growth is a plus 

  • Experience as a country manager or in market entry and growth strategy formation is a plus

Airwallex promotes fair compensation practices in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local law.

These expected base pay ranges are based on information at the time this post was generated and represent the company’s good faith minimum and maximum ranges for this role at the time of posting.

The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills and other qualifications, geographic location as noted, internal equity, and other external market factors.

Certain roles may be eligible for other compensation including, but not limited to, annual bonuses, commissions, RSUs, or other forms of compensation in addition to the established salary range.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and work location. US-based employees are eligible to participate in medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability, basic life insurance, and well-being benefits. US-based employees also receive 20 paid days of vacation and 12 paid days of company holidays in a calendar year.
