About the team
The Legal, Risk & Compliance (LRC) team is a collaborative group of legal minds and risk management experts. We’re passionate about safeguarding Airwallex’s operations, fostering a culture of compliance and ethical conduct, and ensuring we navigate the global financial landscape with integrity. We provide expert guidance and support to all areas of the business, proactively identifying, mitigating, and managing legal, compliance and financial risks.
The Global Regulatory Compliance Team forms part of the second line of defence (2LOD) at Airwallex whilst operating within the larger LRC function. We are a proactive and trusted business partner committed to enabling Airwallex’s growth and strategic goals by providing an advisory and oversight role. This role is a newly created senior project management office (“PMO”) role within the Global Regulatory Compliance Team. It can be based in either Singapore, the UK or the Netherlands. This role has a direct reporting line to the global head of the team (based in the Netherlands).
What you’ll do
As Senior Manager, Regulatory Compliance, PMO you will drive delivery for the Global Regulatory Compliance Team with respect to the regulatory engagement strategy and maintenance of our global licensing responsibilities for our regulated financial services entities.
You will coordinate with all internal and external parties to ensure the program run by the Regulatory Compliance Team remains highly organised, structured and grounded on the 3 lines of defence principle. You will lead cross-functional collaboration to implement and embed efficient processes, documentation and engagement strategies. You will create and deliver processes, strategies and optimisation to enable the team to analyse products, provide guidance to ensure that our 2LOD second line of defence controls are fit for purpose, comply with regulatory obligations and to ultimately guide the first line business to enable the maturity of both customer-facing and internal back-office processes and product features.
Responsibilities:

PMO role with the ownership of the internal processes underpinning the global regulatory compliance program at Airwallex

Ensure PMO oversight of the regulatory reporting program as ‘point of contact’ with the Operations & Engineering Teams at Airwallex

Define & track key metrics and KPIs for the performance of the Regulatory Compliance Team and our engagement touchpoints with our regulators globally

Support on-site exams and inspections as PMO

Manage regulatory compliance risk reporting metrics within the Airwallex Enterprise Risk Management Framework & associated escalation process (inc. Group Risk Committee)

Conduct ‘Proactive Special Ops’ projects to unlock business or operational issues to enable Airwallex to achieve its strategic goals more rapidly
What You’ll Bring

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Compliance, Law, Risk or Governance
-
At least 5 years in a legal, risk or compliance role and 10 years of overall experience.

Preferred candidates have experience in PMO roles within the Legal, Risk or Compliance divisions within fintech, payments, or financial services companies

Demonstrated experience developing and implementing governance frameworks, policies, and procedures at a global or regional level

Familiarity with governance tools and AI-driven process optimization to ensure delivery with the newest and most efficient tools available

Hands-on mentality and a track record of driving execution in fast-paced, high-growth environments
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience scaling governance or compliance programs

Experience with tool procurement, vendor management, and process automation

Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s, or relevant certification) is a plus

Consultant experience is a plus
