About the Team
The Data & Privacy team at Airwallex is a global group of specialists within the Legal, Risk & Compliance (LRC) function. We provide expert advice and build frameworks to comply with global privacy, data protection, data governance and AI governance legal requirements and best practices, enabling the business to deliver safe, resilient services to our customers. Our team partners closely with Product, Engineering, Information Security, Legal, Risk, Compliance, and other business units to ensure data privacy and AI governance is embedded in everything we do.
What You’ll Do
As a Data & Privacy Program Manager based in Amsterdam (preferred) or London, you will play a pivotal role in establishing, maintaining, and evolving Airwallex’s global data protection and governance framework. You’ll drive the development and implementation of privacy and data governance processes and tooling, and enhance our existing practices. You’ll work cross-functionally to support privacy and AI risk assessments processes, privacy contracting processes, data subject rights compliance and monitoring, and data privacy incident response, helping Airwallex meet its regulatory obligations and maintain customer trust.
Responsibilities:

Establish, maintain, and continuously evolve the organisation’s data privacy framework and governance program.

Develop and update privacy policies, procedures and standards in line with global regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).

Support development of data governance processes in partnership with the Engineering and InfoSec, including related to data tagging/cataloging, data lineage, and data roles and responsibilities.

Translate privacy policies, procedures and standards into practical, repeatable workflows and controls embedded in tools like Slack, Jira, Confluence and privacy tooling.

Configure, maintain and continuously improve privacy processes and tooling (e.g. for DSR, ROPA, DPIA tools) and integrate them into existing Product, Engineering, Operations and Support processes.

Support privacy risk assessment processes for new and existing products, features, and services, recommending safeguards or design changes as needed.

Support review and negotiation of data processing agreements and related processes with customers, vendors and partners to ensure appropriate contractual protections.

Deliver and maintain privacy training and awareness programs to foster a strong culture of privacy across the organisation.

Support tracking of privacy and AI legal and regulatory changes and change-management of new requirements into existing privacy processes and tooling.
Who You Are:
We’re looking for people who meet the minimum requirements for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.
Minimum Qualifications:

6+ years’ experience in privacy and data protection program management, operations, or engineering, with strong knowledge of data protection and privacy regulations, specifically the EU/UK GDPR.

Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Law or Information Security, or equivalent experience;

Strong technical skills configuring or administering privacy tooling (e.g. for DSR, ROPA, DPIA) and integrating them into BAU workflows; experience leveraging AI to streamline, enhance, and automate privacy workflows.

Experience with data governance concepts, requirements, and tooling, and a strong understanding of how data governance supports privacy governance.

Experience translating data protection policies, procedures and standards into concrete workflows and controls embedded in existing tools (e.g. Slack, Jira, privacy management software).

Expertise in program management and working on cross-functional projects.

Strong communicator; experience in translating complex privacy requirements to non-legal audiences; serves as the “connective tissue” between legal and engineering/product teams.

A collaborative and empathetic mindset, a good sense of humor, and a keen understanding of how to work effectively with colleagues from different teams and backgrounds, and in different geographies and timezones.

Strong interest in financial services regulation and the fintech industry.

Fluency in English.
Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in payments, fintech, or a high-growth, globally distributed company.

Professional privacy certifications (such as CIPP, CIPM, AIGP).

Ability to design AI‑assisted workflows (e.g. using agentic tools, no‑code/low‑code automation, or APIs) to reduce manual effort while maintaining legal and compliance guardrails.
