This role can be based out of Singapore or Shanghai

Responsibilities

This role will be part of the Core Banking Platform team, which is crucial in powering Airwallex’s global operations by facilitating client wallet transactions and ensuring the financial accuracy of client ledgers. Primarily based in Singapore, our lean team delivers a robust, high-performance distributed multi-currency wallet platform that supports the continuous growth of Airwallex products like global transfers, payments and acquiring, card issuing, and lending. You will be building out our capabilities that enable Airwallex product teams to build new products quickly and as independently as possible. You will be responsible for leading high-impact projects from ideation to launch and need to quickly build an understanding of all aspects of the Airwallex business to be successful

  • Drive alignment between engineering and product teams to ensure products meet end-user needs.

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to deliver scalable, high-impact solutions.

  • Define scope and strategy for technical projects while ensuring they align with business objectives.

  • Work with engineers to prioritize features, scalability, and performance optimizations.

  • Identify and mitigate dependencies, bottlenecks, and risks across teams.

  • Facilitate clear communication, ensuring that engineering efforts align with stakeholder expectations.

  • Advocate for best practices in engineering excellence, scalability, and performance without getting into the code details.

  • Manage program timelines, deliverables, and execution efficiency

Who you are

  • Experience in Engineering or Technical Product Manager role, preferably in a ground-breaking technical environment

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM degree

  • A strategic thinker who balances business priorities with technical feasibility.

  • Strong communicator who excels at working with both engineering teams and product managers.

  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.

  • Proactive problem solver who anticipates challenges and mitigates risks.

  • Adept at managing trade-offs (e.g., performance vs. cost, scalability vs. user experience).

  • Deep understanding of system design and high-level architecture but not necessarily writing code.
