About the team

The SME & Growth Business team at Airwallex is a passionate group of collaborators and business champions dedicated to empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to thrive in the global economy. We combine deep financial expertise with a growth mindset, working closely with our clients to understand their unique needs and develop tailored solutions that streamline cross-border payments and unlock new revenue streams. What you’ll do

Airwallex is seeking an experienced Account Executive to join our SME & Growth Business team and be a founding member of the Spend Management sales pod. This role presents a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of our expansion in the US SME market. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical software sales, particularly in spend management products (e.g., expense management, account payables automation).

We are looking for individuals who are driven by customer success, have a solutions-oriented mindset, and possess an insatiable curiosity for innovation in financial technology. This position is critical in driving our growth and establishing Airwallex as a leader in spend management for SMEs across various industries. Your primary focus will be bringing on new SME customers and leveraging your skills in pitching, negotiating, and driving internal processes to set up our partnerships for success.

We operate in a hybrid work environment, requiring presence in the office at least three days per week. This role is based in New York City.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Airwallex’s platform and technical solutions to effectively communicate their value to potential clients

  • Manage the full sales cycle for SME accounts, from prospecting to closing deals, as well as ramping up new customers

  • Conduct technical consultations to identify client needs and propose tailored solutions

  • Exceed revenue targets by strategically positioning our suite of financial technology products, specifically: Expenses & Reimbursement and Automated Accounts Payable management

  • Collaborate with internal cross functional stakeholders to negotiate and execute partnership agreements and commercial contracts

  • Contribute to refining sales processes to enhance efficiency and scalability, including developing new verticals and enhancing our sales motion

  • Set the standard for excellence within our SME sales function through exemplary performance and teamwork

Who you are

We’re looking for people who meet the minimum requirements for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience

  • Minimum 3 years of outbound B2B sales experience in account payable automation and / or expense management 

  • Proven track record of consistent pipeline generation and outbound efforts

  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets in a technical or solution-based selling environment

  • Strong understanding of software and its applications in business contexts

  • Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and sales enablement tools

  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Desire to be a founding member of a new team and contribute to thought leadership for a new sales motion

  • Understanding of the spend management landscape and key players

  • A customer-focused, consultative approach to sales

  • Solution-oriented problem-solver with a “Figure It Out” mentality

  • Adept at balancing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment

  • Experience contributing to new product launches or market expansions

$96K – $150K • Offers Equity • Offers Commission

Airwallex promotes fair compensation practices in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local law.

These expected base pay ranges are based on information at the time this post was generated and represent the company’s good faith minimum and maximum ranges for this role at the time of posting.

The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills and other qualifications, geographic location as noted, internal equity, and other external market factors.

Certain roles may be eligible for other compensation including, but not limited to, annual bonuses, commissions, RSUs, or other forms of compensation in addition to the established salary range.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and work location. US-based employees are eligible to participate in medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability, basic life insurance, and well-being benefits. US-based employees also receive 20 paid days of vacation and 12 paid days of company holidays in a calendar year.
